I have been many times, but not particular for winery tours. My sister got married in Italy a few years back and the one thing I can say is how amazing virtually every local bottle was that I tasted. It seems like everyone, everywhere made their own wine and it was awesome. Some would bring out wine in what looked like an old, reuse 40oz beer bottle...but the wine was amazing every time. Ask around on here...there are a ton of really well educated wine folks. less

RyE: Thanks for the add! It always amazes me how many people share the same ideas and interest. Keep pursuing futurepoint, high needed subject in this society.

Usually for me with whites, i am almost trying to convince myself that i like it because it's supposed to be good...such as, "hmmm, that's not bad." However, the Plumpjack Chardonay was awesome - not totally sure of the year, but i think it was 05. Pretty much the only white i've truly enjoyed.

KeithOBrien → WineLikeYouMeanIt: Thanks for the note Renee. Kids learn so fast and the vast majority of kids are overweight and extremely unhealthy. It's so hard later to recreate the discipline to eat well. Starting them young!!!

We did Napa (Calistoga) last September and it was amazing. We took a babysitter with us (highly recommended) so it gave us a great combination of family and adult play time. It was fantastic. The cave tour at Del Gotto was a blast, and lovely wines and Chateau Montelena is one of my favorites. Loads of great places to stay. Enjoy.

I know what I like and I know a few vineyards and regions that i like most of what they produce, but that is about it. We don't spend a lot on wine. I have 2 racks - 1 for bottles under $20, 1 for bottles over $20. The bottom one get emptied much faster! What i love to do is go into any good wine store and find a knowledgable staff guy and ask him for his top 3 wines under $15. I have almost never been dissappointed. There are a ton of great, inexpensive reds. Then i do the same at $30 and under. I've always been able to find great value and a ton of varieties. With that said, I like a wine called Wild Hog Pinot Noir (about $30-$35) and it's nothing fancy, but there's a nice rioja called LAN Reserve (under $20) that is pretty nice too. less

Alaya: Just opened up and poured the new release Faust Cabernet from Napa (Quintessa's venture) and it was stunning! I think it would be in line with what you mention as some favorites, if you can get some, I'd highly recommend it!

About Me
http://authentic-networker.com I am a father, brother, son and social entreprenuer. I am an author, speaker and coach in Transformational Leadership and I work with entrepreneurs to establish and expand their online brands through social media.
I am the founder of a South Florida based youth empowerment organization called FuturePoint that provides experiential transformational trainings for young leaders. I am really passionate about self-learning and making a difference.
I enjoy wine and enjoy learning about it but honestly when it comes to wine knowledge, I really just know what I like and haven't explored too much into depth of the wine world.
I drink exclusively red wines and have enjoyed at least one bottle of nearly every varietal.
My sister owns a wonderful, boutique wine store in Forest Park, IL, just outside of Chicago called House Red which has slightly expanded my wine knowledge.
Additionally, I do my best to take care of my body (allows me to drink more wine!). I eat mostly organic, use homeopathic treatments for 99% of my family's needs and have raised my son holistically (no antibiotics, no drugs, no vaccinations). I should note - no ear infections & no colds over 2 days.
I have recently really gotten into understanding what goes into aging and learning about things we can do to age in very healthy ways. I like life and would love to be around for a long, long time.
I love connecting with great people, over great wine and having great conversation.

No seriously, I like so many, however i really enjoyed the Plumpjack 2003 Syrah and probably the best wine I've ever had was a Chateau Montelena 1998 Reserve Cab. It was amazing.

In advance, if possible, please post the wine you will be trying that fits the tasting. The tasting will last one month so you can taste and post your notes in that time frame. Please ask questions about the wine we're tasting, post recommendations for future wine tastings and make this online wine tasting group a wonderful, interactive, informative wine discussion.
