SilverSableWine: Are you a home wine maker? I've done several batchs over the last few years with success. Washington State's law prohibiting home brew outside the home does limit my enjoyment of it.

vino911: So I where are some good wine tasting spots in Downtown Seattle and does anyone know of any good spots on the Eastside as well? I usually do my tastings in Woodinville & the North end but want to branch out since I work in Seattle.

elray: Riondo Prosecco veneto was given a 90 point rating, it was a great bubbly and modestly priced about 12.00 at the local wine merchant esquin.

elray: Hi, I'm Len. This is a short intro. I like to visit esquin wine shop in seattle and sample their wares.

Jacci: Howdy all, i'm brand new to the Seattle group. I'm north - in south Everett/Mill Creek. I would be willing to travel a bit for some good wine & good conversation.
May 13, 2008
SilverSableWine: Gas is still cheaper than wine so I don't mind a drive from Kirkland. A home would be good so we don't have to worry about corkage charges.

SanguineBlues: No one is South, eh? Phooey. I'm directionally impaired and hopeless north of Tacoma. I need to throttle back on the wine fund to get a GPS! :)

AlisonS: I'm up for getting together as a group. I'm on the East Side but would be willing to make my way into Seattle if that works better for more of you.
May 8, 2008
SilverSableWine: Sounds good. Lets see if we can get a group together. Anyone else???
May 5, 2008
erincthomas: I'm glad you are all enjoying this group! A meeting would be great, I'm in Ballard (northwestern Seattle for you Eastsiders) and wouldn't might traveling a bit to share some wine!

SilverSableWine: A Seattle area meet would be great. I also do a little homemade wine and would love to compare it with others.

I started my wine drinking in CA but have really grown to appreciate WA wines since I moved here in 2000. Lots of good things happening in this state around wine. Just bought a bunch of impossible-to-get WA wines at a charity auction including the Columbia Valley Syrah signed by David Lake and Edgar Martinez and a three-year vertical of Flying Pig from Cayuse. Catie: Larry, you think that Washington and even Walla2 wines rock? Ehhh - they're okay.
April 21, 2008
SanguineBlues: Columbia Winery Syrah 2004 is my current favorite. I bet Mark doesn't want direct web links posted, but there's a nice review at wine weekly.

LarrytheSommelier: I wrote a new article about Walla Walla and would appreciate any comments if you ould be so kind to take the time and check out my blog.

erincthomas: Also, check out anything Ste. Michelle from the 90's and particularly Januik Merlots...

erincthomas: Woo, thanks for the 4 people that joined my group! I saw there wasn't a Washington wine group (cough California natives don't know wines exists outside of their own cough) and wanted to get some awareness out there!

cagbetts: Not that many Washington wines make it to our shelves in southern Idaho, but I will keep may eyes open to experiment.

Washington wines rock! Plain and simple. I have been in the industry for many years and am fortunate to count many of our best winemakers in Washington as friends. With that said, after traveling, tasting writing, selling and making wine for many a long year, there are few places in the world that can match Washington for all of its wine styles. You like white? Our Chenin blanc, semillon and riesling cant be beat in the lower 48 states. You like red? California? fuggedaboudit! From elegant and sublime to robust and hearty, we do it all.
One thing though - don't tell anyone! Leaves less for us up here;)

Hi all - I've moved to Washington for a year (school related), and while I'm here I'd love to try a bunch of wines that aren't nationally distributed (Hogue, Covey Run, etc). Any suggestions? Thanks!
