Category: Wine Review
Purchased - Ben's in Reno, NV - $14.99/375ml
Vineyard Website: Rombauer Vineyards
USA - California
Color - Deep red in color.
Nose - Ripe raspberry, blackberry and some black pepper.
Taste - Very fruit forward, jammy with super ripe raspberry, cranberries and cherries. A decent amount of tannins but a lot less than I would have thought for a 2006. Fairly rich and sweet in the mouth. Moderate length finish with the raspberry jam clinging on.
Notes - The grapes come from Amador, Napa, Lake and El Dorado Counties to make this wine. If you are partial too fruity, slightly sweet Zins this is for you. I can see this going well with a chocolate soufflé or other rich chocolate dessert as a substitute for a dessert wine.
